D Udaya Kumar

Udaya Kumar, Visual Communication: 2003 and PhD: 2010, is the creator of the Rupee Symbol for Indian Currency approved in 2010, and was awarded by the Government of India for this contribution to the country. He is also the recipient of the Young Indian Award by CNN IBN. Udaya was also the first PhD scholar enrolled to IDC and has also won Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal at IIT Bombay for excellence in academics and extracurricular activities in 2010 when he was awarded his PhD in typography. He is currently the Head of Department of Design at IIT Guwahati.
