Areas of Research: Motorcycles used for Commuting
Research Topic: Motorcycle Seating Comfort: A Study on Design-Ergonomics with Special Reference to Motorcycles used for Commuting
Abstract:
India is a vast country with various forms of road transportation ranging from bicycles to large multi-axle busses. Two wheelers, especially motorcycles form the majority of these vehicles. Motorcycles in India are predominantly used for commuting and house hold works. The usage pattern is very different from developed countrieswhere motorcycles are used for sport or leisure. However the basic architecture and design of motorcycles in India are inspired from those in the developed countries. There has been very little research, especially in ergonomics, to design motorcycles specifically for Indian usage. This research aims to study the ergonomics considerations in motorcycle and develop inputs for the design of motorcycles for India.
