Clay Studio Activities:
From generation and exploring different styles is a very important component of design education at IDC. The clay styling studio is equipped with stocks of styling clay, tools and ovens to help generate alternatives for styling in products and automobiles. Clay styling helps in making very fine details of form transition and is a very good medium for fine form manipulation.


Workshop on Clay Styling:
Prof B. K. Chakravarthy conducted an introductory workshop on clay styling with the help of Mahindra & Mahindra clay molders.

Prof. G. G. Ray conducted a workshop for students in the elective advanced ergonomics with the help of designers from Mahindra & Mahindra for ergonomics in automation interiors.

Students have used styling clay for form generation and making final models of their projects:

Template Cutting Machine:
Clay Studio has a Roland Stika Design Cutter. It works on CorelDraw software. This machine is fully operational and cuts stickers/ templates and graphic patterns. We are equipped with vinyl rolls of standard colors, masking tapes and backing paper to encourage faculty and students to use this machine for their academic purpose. This can also be used for making signages. We are able to cut text having minimum font size of 24 pt.

The projects are done with the help of the NC Cutter are:

- Signage for alumni office.
- Graphics for Prof. Munshi's Carbojet project.
- Logos for letterbox project.
- Inlay for painting for the car graphic project of John, VC student.
- Mask for T Shirt graphic for VC students.
- Templates for clay modeling for Visal's project III.
- Mask for electroplating for Prof. Contractor, chemical Engineering Dept.
