Redesign of stamp cancelling device for India post
Guide: Prof. B. K. Chakravarthy
Since long back India post is using hand stamp for stamp cancellation. Automatic machines are available
only at the head post offices, GPO’s due to their high cost and requirement of electricity.
This project aims at designing a new method or mechanism for stamp cancellation which should not be dependent on
electricity and should improve print quality and speed of operation. Final design is a pedal operated mechanism where
printing is carried out using rollers. Motion is transferred from pedal through flywheel to the print roller.
Flywheel helps in uniform torque. Speed of operation can be controlled by pedal. Provision for automation is also
made as optional.
Honeywell Project (Group Project)
Guide: Prof. B.K Chakravarthy,
Prof. V.P Bapat
The Design Objective was to “Enhance the income of mobile vendor by designing a product/arrangement to
improve display & interaction with the user”.
This was designed for a mobile vendor at small village named pilsen at Chicago, our counter partners were students
from IIT-Chicago who provided us the information which was like data collection for our project. Thus this project was
a remote research group project.
My contribution: I designed a side hanger mechanism; it was consisting of a rod having small sliding elements on which
hangers can be placed. The assembly can be easily shifted inside the vehicle during unloading.
Innovative indoor lighting products
Guide: Prof. K. Munshi
The design objective was “To design innovative Indoor lighting products for better ambience and power
saving and to provide better lighting, considering the requirement as per need.”
Various factors such as Power saving, Ambience, Specific lighting (Residential, Hospital, Educational Institutes and
Restaurants etc) and emerging market of LED’s are combined together. Finally arrived at designing a TRACK LIGHTING
which can be used at various locations (Restaurants/Residential/Exhibitions..) for providing ambience and with the
use of LED power saving can be achieved
