Memory Aid Device for Geriatric Alzheimer's Patients
Guide: Prof. Ravi Poovaiah
The project aimed at designing a memory aid for elderly patients suffering
from Mild and Moderate Cognitive Impairment owing to Alzheimer’s disease better known as Age Related Dementia. The
target group was elderly between the age of 60-75 yrs of age as this the time the symptoms are most prevalent. The
project attempted to aid their memory in order for them to carry out their daily routine as close to normalcy as
possible.
The project required careful study of Alzheimer’s patients along with extensive research into the aspects
of disease, and ongoing researches related to it. It was also important to understand the elderly and Indian elderly
in general as well as various aspects of memory.
Remote Play for Preteenagers
Guides: Prof. Ravi Poovaiah,
Dr. Ajanta Sen
The project was done in collaboration with Marvel Technologies (USA).
The task was to build an act of play among preteens who are not physically connected or are remotely located. The
project required understanding and addressing the complex needs of the user group and building an act of play which
engages the same. The end product was a device called ‘Kazoom’ and another called the ‘Tip Hopper’.
The challenge was to build a safe outdoor play which challenged the young and inquisitive minds of preteens and
allowed them the freedom to continuously build new and innovative game strategies with the aid of a single device.
Paper In Digital Enterprise: Project Sponsored by HP Labs
Guide: Prof. Ravi Poovaiah
The project does the same through extensive and detailed user studies
conducted in multiple phases by understanding the requirements of the user. The aim is to identify the main points of
workflow and business processes where seamless transitions between paper and digital media need to be introduced and
how they should be introduced. After user studies, design conceptualization and intervention shall take place in order
to develop prototypes or flash representations.
Expected deliverable is a pc based collaborative application to do the same.
